Crystal structure and elemental composition of UTe single crystals with different quality are examined by means of single X-ray crystallography (XRD) and Electron Microprobe analysis (EPMA). Depending on the crystal growth condition, superconducting (SC) and non-superconducting (NS) samples were prepared. Both XRD and EPMA consistently showed uranium deficiency for the NS sample. SC sample, on the other hand, is stoichiometric within experimental errors. The normal state thermodynamic properties as a function of magnetic field showed drastic difference between SC and NS samples. The obtained results are discussed in connection with the superconductivity.
